Such a wonderful couple that runs this place and the setting is charming. Lovely rooms with state-of-the-art bathrooms and an amazingly delicious breakfast. Highly recommended if you'll be in the Mabou area!

We had a splendid stay at the Inn at Glendyer and really encourage you to visit Esther and Alan. The Inn is very quiet and beautiful and the wonderful hosts go WAY above and beyond in their kindness and help (read on). My two teens and I shared lovely room no. 3, which was actually three rooms: main bedroom with queen bed, a separate little sitting room with twin bed, and a wonderful bathroom. It all felt like a (modern and efficient) version of Green Gables with a cosy appeal and great comfort. Breakfast was delicious: scrambled eggs and bacon, toast, fresh baked muffins, a huge fruit bowl, lots of coffee and tea. Alan and Esther make the Inn extra special. Esther had learned my kids' names before we arrived, catered for the various dietary needs among her six guests with great kindness, and gave us warm hugs on departure. The already lovely visit became more notable as we tried to leave and found that a rear tire on our rental car was pancake flat. Alan sprang into action and emerged with a hydraulic jack, complete professional tire repair kit, air compressor, and a huge array of tools. He had the tire off, fully repaired, and back on the car in no time... and would accept only our thanks. The patch was still holding thousands of kms later when we returned the car. Meanwhile Esther snuck a bag of shortbread cookies into our pile of camping gear. I'm not always a fan of BnB lodging but the Inn at Glendyer is a gem. Huge thanks to both Esther and Alan for a truly memorable stay.

Allen was our main host! We were greeted at the front door, and made to feel at home. Allen's breakfast was absolutely amazing, and kept coming, so don't think you are finished after the plate of food. The rooms were very spacious and very clean. The power on the island went off one evening and Allen stayed up for all the guests, escorted them up the stairs with a flashlight and had a flashlight in each room as well (prepared!!). Upon departure we were gifted Allen's shortbreads to go! Amazing views and right along a walking trail. Oh yeah- listen to Allen that the Google way is impassable. You'd have to traverse a creek to do that!

Wonderful place with wonderful hosts. I highly recommend staying here. It is a true jewel. Make sure to read about the rich history of the place (and to try Alan’s shortbread!).

Honestly have to say this was the best stay we had in our trip to Nova Scotia. A cute B&B just off the road to the Cabot trail. The hosts were fantastic guides to local amenities (the red shoe was a great place to eat). There is an awesome little creek on the property which is peaceful to sit and enjoy. The breakfast was beyond what was expected, and absolutely delicious.

Alan and Esther are marvelous hosts, greeting us by name on our arrival. Our room (#2) was spacious, well equipped and super clean. The breakfasts were always hearty, great variety and nutritious. They carefully met our dietary restrictions and preferences with a smile, and we were often provided additional home baked snacks for the day. Alan and Esther gladly provided tips and suggestions for sites and activities in the area, and always wanted to hear about our day upon our return to Glendyer at the end of the day. Feels like home. Highly recommended. Beautiful quiet setting with a well maintained walking trail accessible from the property.

My party was a group of golfers playing the nearby Cabot Links course. The Inn is a beautiful 1850 building that retains all its historic charm but which has been updated for all necessary modern conveniences, including WiFi, flat-screen TV's and jacuzzi tubs in some of the rooms. The building and equipment is meticulously maintained and everything you might need is provided. The proprietors - Alan and Esther Finlay - are very welcoming and eager to help in any way that they can. I was very pleased with the accommodation and also a wonderful breakfast. Alan and Esther were flexible on the timing for this which was important to our group in order to make tee times and travel commitments. The Inn is located in Mabou, NS which is a hotbed for Gaelic/Celtic fiddle music. We enjoyed an evening of entertainment at the Red Shoe Pub located in Mabou, not far from the Inn. I highly recommend this Inn when travelling about Cape Breton Island.

Beautiful historical home just tucked away from the main road. Quiet with a lovely babbling brook beside. The proprietors, Ester and Allan, were amazing. Lots of info for all of Cape Breton Island. The breakfasts were extra special and they gave us goody bags for our trip. Definitely a place I want to come back to in the near future.Tks Ester and Allan you made our visit perfect.
